Divi Accessibility Settings > Hide from Screen Readers toggle not working

When editing in the Visual Builder, under the Content tab > Accessibility Settings > Hide from Screen Readers toggle set to "Yes"... this applies a class name of "aria-hidden" to the element, which does nothing. We need it to instead apply a role of aria-hidden="true".

It appears that this is now working (only tested on slider)

HOWEVER...the implementation is still a fail. The plugin needs to set all items that could be tabbed to, ie anything that is a button a anchor or has a tab index set up already to be set to a tab index of "-1"

I have not built this anybody else already working on this? ie in javascript:

But is there a way to do this in PHP for rendering via the plugin? (note this is just psuedo code an not tested or anything like that)
