This is begging for an MCP so that anyone can use their AI to do their email for them ?

This is also in my mind - wanted to provide agentic steering of conversations first but curious to hear your use case / workflow on connecting to an email client MCP server so I can prioritize accordingly!

I can see 2 ways ..

I would use the existing cloud flare agents backend and gui . The Agent chat window then opens up right next to the email in a side pane . That gets a quick to developer AI chat pane - job done . It’s also how Gmail does it now.

The issue will be though about context , but an AI reading your email needs to know context about what you’re asking and what it’s reading in your emails . I’m not sure how far along Cloudflare is about this aspect . Gmail has the same issue too as it only knows the context from all the things you have in the Google ecosystem.

I can see the other side of the story here too , which is where you just want to use your Claude system that already has a lot of context about you and to have it use an MCP to work with your email . Then the chat windows is Claude itself and all the context Claude has about you .

I think that getting the first going is immediately useful and quick to do . Then getting the MCP endpoint going .

I will be honest here . I use rust to write my MCP stuff running on Cloudflare that uses workers-rs. That’s only because it’s highly productive as you get the rust speed and coding efficiency with Claude. That gets you an MCP that is runtime bindable to anything inside Cloudflare .. I’m a newbie on using the cloud flare agents system .

agentic steering of conversations ? Can you provide more on this and what it is and how it would feel to use it this way ? I’m curious how it relates to my knowledge and ideas

#29 Looks good 👍 n terms on intent .

I’m wondering how the team that is HIL on this works on it ? Sure web notifications, but also I guess the gui needs to show Draft emails , that are AI generated as opposed to human generators . That distinction would allow some nice use cases I feel .

Agreed. We've yet to land on an approach for embedding AI agents into saasmail but we're thinking about it based on our use case! It helps with the dynamic workflows feature of Cloudflare that released recently.
