I'm using the Dvorak keyboard layout on both Mac and Windows machines.
The Mac version of OverBind seems to work just fine with the Dvorak keyboard layout. Although it displays as WASD in the settings even when I'm pressing the Dvorak keys ,AOE, it does SOCD between them just fine on Mac. The Mac version seems to consistently operate on the lower level that consistently uses Qwerty keys no matter what keyboard layout I'm using.
On Windows, however, it does not properly do SOCD overrides. Just like on Mac, when I press Dvorak keys ,AOE to set up the settings, it displays WASD. That alone isn't a bad thing. However, there is a difference in behavior depending on whether I press Dvorak ,AOE vs Qwerty WASD while setting up the settings.
If I set up settings with Dvorak ,AOE, it displays as WASD in settings, but if I then switch my keyboard layout to Qwerty, it turns what should be D re-presses on releasing A, into H presses:
- The first time I press
D, it's unaffected. D in, D out.
- Then I press
A, and A comes out. (I didn't check whether it releases D or not, but I doubt it)
- Then I release
A, still holding D, and where I expected it to produce a D re-press, it pressed H instead.
Note: Dvorak D is where Qwerty H would be.
The Windows version seems to be getting confused with parts of it operating on the lower level that uses Qwerty keys, and other parts operating on the higher level that uses Dvorak keys.
