[Discussion] TOC Shadow Position #1450
Comments
Thank you @mrbobbytables! lets sort through how to move forward with this proposal to align with the upcoming elections. |
This is scheduled for the TOC's private meeting on February 11th. |
While we work through the specifics of this, @mrbobbytables raised a good point. If shadows serve 1 year terms instead of 2 years it allows those individuals to become available at the closest election cycle to be nominated and voted into the TOC proper, without waiting a full 2 yrs. |
The charter change has been added to the March GB meeting agenda to review and vote on 👍 |
There are times when a TOC member may become unavailable for legitimate short-medium lengths of time (e.g. health or family issue) or even instances for one reason or another, they decide it's best for them to step down.
The TOC members shoulders a large, and frequently time-sensitive workload, making these instances very disruptive.
In discussion with the TOC, we thought of a potential option - TOC shadows.
Shadows would reduce the impact of a TOC member being unavailable or stepping down significantly. They would be able to assume the role without having to execute another election and go through onboarding / learning for the role.
This also opens the door to more members of the community getting exposure to TOC duties and shadows would make good candidates for future elected members even further decreasing the onramping time should they be elected.
