Welcome to DotMP discussions!

This is a place to inquire about the project, express what you like or dislike, ask about features without opening an issue, and express all of your grievances with how badly I thought about scaling up when I started writing this project!

  • I would love to hear if there are any current users of the project and what you use it for!

  • More contributors are always welcome, and I am happy to give people the rundown of how everything fits together internally. Now that we have a GitHub Sites running with Doxygen documentation, hopefully it's easier to get people onboarded with contributing!

Philosophy of DotMP moving foward

Since rebranding from OpenMP.NET to DotMP (to satisfy trademark usage guidelines) I am more willing to start incorporating new features that don't have a 1:1 correspondence with OpenMP. On the other hand, there's still tons of OpenMP directives that don't exist in DotMP, ranging from simple things that could be deployed in a matter of hours (like adding support for more environment variables like OMP_NUM_THREADS) to huge year-long undertakings (like GPU offloading or an intricate, performant tasking system [EDIT: tasking exists now, and GPU offloading is in the pipeline!]). I would love feedback on the direction of the project moving forward!
