Currently we are relying on protoc-jar-maven-plugin from com.github.os72 this plugin is not the most robust. There is newer plugin org.xolstice.maven.plugins:protobuf-maven-plugin this one is well maintained with a good community.

The proposal is to switch to this plugin.
