Hierarchy Also Displayed on Child Groups

Currently, only the parent group has a public navigation showing the sub-groups connected to it (the hierarchy tab, with counter, on the group menu). However, if you go to any of those subgroups, a visitor would have no idea that group was connected to anything.

Is it possible to show the hierarchy group tab on both parent and sub groups? That way regardless of the visitor's starting point, they could see that the groups are related to each other.

Hi Rob,

On my hierarchical setups, I've used a breadcrumb-style hierarchy explainer in the group header. There's a template function I've included that creates that kind of link: https://github.com/dcavins/hierarchical-groups-for-bp/blob/master/public/views/template-tags.php#L9

I hook it to one of the group header actions and make it pretty prominent. Your idea is interesting though. Maybe the hierarchy tab would show, and the top section of that tab could be the breadcrumb and the lower section would be the hierarchical directory (as it exists currently).

Then, people wouldn't have to add the hierarchy links as I've suggested above.

OK, tried it out and it's close - but not quite. I see the hierarchy indicator in both the parent and the child group, so that's good.

But, the indicator to the child group doesn't show anything about the parent or any other "children".

My site is about books, and I'm using the hierarchy plugin to denote variant editions of the book. I'm hoping to be able to express to the visitor the full range of the various editions regardless of what edition they land on. So, a child book should indicate both other children and the relationship to the parent, while the parent maintains a list of all of the various children, know what I mean?

I can't use the full parent-child relationship in the directory, as that would seriously jack up the book browsing and listing system. I just want to have the tabs in each individual group page be indicative of each other.
