[feature] Change new menu behavior

0.60.3 in a Synology container

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The new left menu when in collapsed mode causes the whole content to jump around.
It's not optimized for smaller screens like on a 14" and smaller laptop.
It would also be preferable to open the menu "over the content", so the list does not jump. Like an Overlay.
On bigger screens, there is enough "real estate" for the main content so it will no "jump".

Can we have a "pin" so it stays either collapsed or expanded?

Also, please add back the option for a classic "flat" dark mode without the color transitions.
My eyes are not comfortable with the #365e83 > #264673 > #492b5e color transition

Can I also add the following observations, after using v0.60.x for a few days:

The expanding side menu (Navigation Sidebar) is distracting as it expands on mouse over (even if the browser does not have focus. i.e. just moving the mouse across it while in background causes the screen to 'jump'). I appreciate that it has already been requested that this becomes an overlay rather than moving the whole screen, however:

Using 'always expanded' in the UI settings wastes screen space and as shown below, the Windows tool-tip shows the full description of the button.

Could you consider one or more of the following:

1. A toggle button rather than mouse-over to expand the sidebar.
2. The option in settings to 'Never' expand the sidebar.

3. The option to pin either open or closed.
