Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Once #1 is done, we should investigate into writing unit tests for complex specifications. Currently I am thinking about references referencing references, cycles....

Describe the solution you'd like
One unit test method per requirement: One for complex nesting, one for detecting cycles ....
