can UI be used in python? So far from documentation, it does not look like possible. What I am thinking is to use python as data engine and UI as presentation layer.

For example, I have some DataFrames and I want to attach that to UI instance and I can run sql against those DFs.

While it should in principle be possible to launch the UI from Python, some users have reported problems, and we haven't yet had time to look into them.

Note that there is no current or planned support for writing Python in the UI.
