Calling opinions about Patient Appointment document status

Hi
I would like to suggest some improvements to the "Status" of the Patient Appointment doctype. Looking at the code , some of the statusses are well defined , but some are not ( e.g. Checked Out ). I am not sure if there is an existing flow-diagram somewhere but clearly before I can venture into making a suggestion, I have to ensure that I understand this correctly.......

Scheduled : an appointment in the future, further than today
Open : an appointment today
Confirmed : patient called and confirmed an appointment
Checked In : patient has arrived at a Service unit, reported to reception and is in the queue
Checked Out : ??????
Closed : appointment completed, patient departed, no further options
No Show : did not honour the appointment

I dont see any code related to "Checked Out"?
