• PR opened adding support for flashing via USB Serial JTAG

esp-hal

• Has been transfered to the esp-rs organization

• Now implements GPIO, TIMG, and UART for the ESP32 and ESP32-C3
• Now implements the DelayMs and DelayUs traits from embedded-hal
• Begun work on I2C and SPI, as well as GPIO for the ESP32-S2 and ESP32-S3
• Verifies the ESP32 and ESP32-C3 examples using CI

xtensa-toolchain

• Created a GitHub Action which installs the Xtensa fork of the Rust compiler

• esp-idf-hal

  • It is now simultaneously compatible with embedded-hal V0.2 and embedded-hal V1.0-alpha6 traits. Users don't need any special adapters, they just need to depend either on embedded-hal V0.2 or embedded-hal V1.0-alpha6
  • New peripheral, thanks to @andresv: TWAI (support for TWAI is what induced the need to become compatible with embedded-hal V1.0, as TWAI traits are not (yet) available in V0.2)
  • In progress: simple ULP peripheral (for loading ULP-FSM or ULP-RISCV programs, as well as for starting/stopping the ULP timer)

• embuild

  • (In progress, PR opened): Support for building ULP-FSM programs and embedding these in Rust crates identical to the ULP-FSM support for IDF CMake builds. In theory, should work also for bare-metal binary ESP32 crates, as long as these point the builder to a location where the ulp GCC toolchain as well as ESP-IDF is available (ESP-IDF itself is NOT built for bare-metal crates, just a few includes are used)
  • (Note that support for building ULP-RISCV programs comes out of the box, thanks to Rust supporting the riscv32imc target. "Mini-HAL" for ULP-RISCV is available in esp-idf-hal since quite some time.)

  • Lot's of things in-progress:
    • Wrappers for the ESP-IDF MQTT client
    • Wrappers for the ESP-IDF Event Loop support
    • Wrappers for the ESP-IDF Timer support
