Enhancement request: Separate performance and control layers in screen-sampler UI #6

Evan,

I just started playing around with Screen Sampler and have one feature request that could significantly improve usability during live performances:

Would it be possible to optionally separate the visual output (“performance surface”) from the settings UI (“control surface”) — for example via a second window or output-only mode?

This would allow performers to tweak parameters during a set without visually interrupting the output (especially important when using a projector). In its current form, the UI encourages a “configure first, then don’t touch” workflow, whereas live performance often benefits from continuous adjustment.

A clean separation would:

  • make the visual output performance-safe, and
  • keep controls private, legible, and accessible by default

I’m not sure how feasible this is architecturally, but wanted to share this use case in case it aligns with your roadmap.

Thanks for making such a great tool!
Seb
