"Fatal Python error: take_gil: PyMUTEX_LOCK(gil->mutex) failed" on an M1 mac

No idea how to fix this. I've tried to install caustics on an M1 Mac dozens of times and succeeded only once with some specific permutation of compiler, Python and JAX versions. It might just be easier to rewrite the root solver entirely in JAX than to fix this.

I found a way to get it to work using Rosetta:

1. Open terminal via Rosetta to the x86 versions of clang in the PATH.
2. Install jax and jaxlib via conda install -c conda-forge jax jaxlib.
3. Install caustics withpython setup.py install.

Getting it to work on Apple Silicon will require more effort.
