Terminological troubles beset the account of note categories in the English translation of How To Take Smart Notes by Sönke Ahrens. This is a lightly modified copy of an article originally posted at Zettelkasten.de. The post is CC BY-SA 4.0 (I'm the author), as is this wiki.
UPDATE: I prefer the terms Source Note and Point Note of Professor Dan Allosso to the terms Literature Note and Permanent Note (since Ahrens writes that Literature Notes are Permanent Notes, the more precise formulation is Permanent non-Literature Note) of Sönke Ahrens.
After a few attempts to explain my IDs to an obdurate user on r/Zettelkasten, an officious, peremptory moderator chimed in with a puerile rope of supercilious snot ten days after everyone had moved on. After that I decided to remove all of my posts from r/Zettelkasten and not to participate there again or do anything that might help them.
Have I then exposed my character as prickly and thin-skinned? Perhaps. The discussion at r/Zettelkasten is of variable quality.
