Unicode in documentation source

What would the maintainers think of configuring Sphinx to use LuaLaTeX, so as to be able to use Unicode freely in .rst files?

I use LuaLaTeX by default. So I would support it. But I am not really a maintainer.

(Also the "accessible PDF" feature sounds nice.)

I think it is nice if the main part of the docstring (i.e. ~first sentence) is understandable without it, if you ever go into some system that does not support unicode (e.g. cfarm). But apart from that I'm all for it.
