During a Session
- Open Zoom and ensure mic settings are correct
- Open Firefox Reality via Viveport
- Log into provided Komodo account
- Go to session and enter it
- Learn to use Komodo in VR
- Exit the session
- Learn to use Komodo in Spectator-only Mode
- Access the provided Zoom session.
- Change the sound output to
Headphones (# - Rift S)
- Change the mic input to
Headset Microphone (# - Rift S)
- Open Viveport
- Make sure you are on the Library tab
- Choose Firefox Reality
- In Firefox Reality, go to "komodo-dev.library.illinois.edu"
- Or type

in the address bar - Enter your Illinois email address
- Enter your Komodo account password
- Press Login
- Choose

- Make sure the
A/B/X/Y
buttons are on the inside and the thumbsticks are on the outside. - Place your index finger on the trigger (the single large, round button that faces away from you).
- Place your middle finger on the grip (the single, large round button on the sides).
- Push
A/B/X/Y
with your thumb. - Push the thumbstick with your thumb like a button.
- Push the hamburger button and the Oculus button with your thumb.
- If needed, switch to a right-handed menu by pressing the Komodo menu button (
Y
) on your left controller. - Press the Komodo menu button (
B
) on your right controller to switch back to a left-handed menu. - Press either menu icon to show and hide the menu.
- Point your hand at the menu so that you see a cursor.
- Press the trigger button to select an item or activate a button.
- Choose Settings > Starting Location (the house icon).
We recommend doing this because the starting position may have been affected by any scrolling motion done before you entered VR.
Wave to your peers!
- Press and hold the thumbstick like a button.
- Aim at the floor.
- Let go of the thumbstick.
- Teleport at least two times before calibrating your height. [1]

Quickly flick the thumbstick left or right.
- Place your hand in a model.
- Squeeze the grip button.

- Place both hands in a model.
- Squeeze both grip buttons.
- Move both hands.
- Let go of both grip buttons.
- Open your menu
- Select the padlock icon to the left of the model name. [2]
- Open your menu
- Select the open/closed eye icon to the left of the model name.
- Open your menu
- Select "People"
- Make sure the status says "Connected ()".
- Press the hamburger button on your left controller.
- Use
W / A / S / D
to strafe (move forward, left, back, right) - Use
Q / E
to rotate left / right - Use
2 / 3
to rotate up / down
- Drag the middle mouse button to pan up / down / left / right
- Scroll in the window to quickly move forward / back
- The following actions are unimplemented:
- Moving a model
- Scaling a model
- Drawing
- Erasing
- Keep in mind that locking, unlocking, hiding, and showing models is synchronized for everyone.
[1]: due to a bug in v0.4.1, you will need to teleport twice before doing any height calibration to land at the correct height. Our apologies.
[2]: If you can't move an unlocked model, it might be because it is inside a locked model. This is a known issue. A recommended workaround is to hide the locked model, moved the unlocked model, and then show the locked model again. Our apologies.
