Updating Breaks Machine

I install umbrel version 1.2.2 and I then set up wifi on the machine using the debug terminal.
I use NMCLI because I don't have any ethernet.
I then install some apps.
I go to update the machine and leave it on the update screen.
It freezes at one point and when I check the machine it appears to be rebooted.
Going to the machine's ip address on my Macbook doesn't work.
I go to the debug terminal and enter the credentials umbrel:umbrel, but it doesn't work.
I enter the credentials I set up for umbrel on the web panel, username:password, but no luck.

How should I fix this?
