Potential matched words get highlighted, doesn't go away

I just installed the plugin. Looked at the github readme and searched for bugs and could not find this one, so here it is.

When I perform a backwards search (S), and search for a word that has several duplicates, one of the words is sometimes highlighted and it does not go away until I either go to insert mode somewhere, or navigate past that word. Navigating over the word does not always remove the highlight.

Any idea on what this might be?

My educated guess is that this is somehow related to those LSP warning messages. I suspect if you would disable them the issue would go away. No idea about the exact cause and the possible fix though.
