Description
GH Bounty is an open-source bounty platform for GitHub issues. It lets maintainers or funders post rewards, escrow funds onchain, and use AI-assisted validation to evaluate submitted pull requests before releasing payment.
The project describes a workflow where users can pin a GitHub issue or scan a repository, fund issues with SOL, and let validator agents review incoming pull requests. GH Bounty also exposes agent-oriented documentation and an MCP server so developer agents can discover and interact with bounties.
Typical workflow:
- A funder selects a GitHub issue or repository.
- A bounty amount is deposited into escrow.
- Contributors submit pull requests against the issue.
- AI validators review the contribution against the requirements.
- Funds are released when the contribution is accepted.
Strengths:
- Uses GitHub as the source of truth for issues and pull requests.
- Escrowed funds make rewards visible before work starts.
- AI-assisted review can reduce manual coordination for small bounties.
- Onchain settlement improves transparency for payment events.
- Agent support makes it relevant to emerging autonomous contributor workflows.
Limitations:
- Current settlement is SOL on Solana rather than USDC on Arbitrum.
- AI-assisted review is not a substitute for maintainer judgment on complex changes.
- The model works best for clearly scoped issues with measurable acceptance criteria.
- Contributors still need to handle normal repository contribution requirements.
