In examples/gallery the password box does not show any masked characters

Expected:
Type a password into the password box, and as a character is typed a masked character shows up

Actual:
Type a password into the password box and the cursor advances but no characters are shown.

This behavior is inconsistent, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't might be theme dependent.

@celer This may be related to the glyph batch coalescing bug (#340, PR #335), but password masking uses a special mask character which could have a different rendering path. Please retest after PR #335 is merged — if the issue persists, it's a separate bug in the password field widget.
