Adding reminder "in the past"

I often find myself needing to add a reminder in the past.
For example, when I forget to log a mandatory technical inspection.

Being able to set a past date would let me record how late I am, and it would also allow me to create a record with the date of the last inspection. Then I could simply press “Done” to automatically create the next reminder based on the configured recurrence.

This is already possible for reminders based on odometer readings, where I can add a reminder at a value my vehicle has already passed.

I understand that this feature is not possible (or at least should require an additional warning) when the “Auto Refresh Lapsed Recurring Reminders” setting is enabled.

Wouldn't it make sense to allow past-dated reminders as well?
A warning could be displayed so users can correct the date if it was entered by mistake.
