Contributing a new Site

@hng we've been chatting about it and the coop community really needs a resource like this.

However I think you are starting to outgrow mkdocs. I'm a frontend developer and would be interested in contributing a new site using Starlight. It's built on Astro so its still just static pages with markdown, but it supports content collections and would better facilitate scaling up the content.

I've noticed some PRs have been waiting for years for some review; what is the status of the project? Would you be open to such contributions?

Hey! Thanks for your interest in the project! :) At the moment I am not sure a new site is really needed. Personally I am also not really a big JS developer so I would rather continue using something simple like mkdocs as long as it makes sense.

I check PRs every other week. Some PRs may linger because the authors do not respond to questions or I am unsure if the additions fits the scope of the list.

Astro is a static site generator. You write in Markdown and it spits out static HTML pages. You can use Javascript with it, but you certainly don't have to.

If the scope remains as it is, I think you are right: the current site is fine. But I think the community could benefit from more information on what is out there. I was hoping to add such content, but I really think that becomes easily too much content for a one-page site.

If this sort of thing isn't in-scope for you, I could make a new project, leveraging your current list as a starting point. However, it seemed like a shame not to collaborate.

Could you maybe write a bit more what kind of new features you think the site should have? Maybe I am lacking the imagination 😅 And it is the first time someone has suggested something like this. The website itself is already an extension of the initial tech-coops list.

I'll just open a PR and we can see if you like it or not; I think it would be the easiest way to understand my proposal.
