Is this for finding the version of things based on the script @jbednar has? Or something else?

Note that the comments at the top of the file will probably need updating:

# bash usage: $ autover numpy pandas python conda
# python usage: >>> import autover ; autover("numpy","pandas","python","conda")

It's still possible to use the script without the rest of autover, so I guess the comments could just say that these are how one would use it if this script is in your bash path, but the python code will presumably have a different import.
