How to get a Stream to trigger iced messages?

Within the lifespan of my application there exists a single futures::Stream<T>, which emits events that my GUI needs to take into account. I only have the one Stream and I cannot clone it. From what I'm reading, the correct way to do this is with the subscription API, however, I don't understand why Application::subscription() wants me to keep throwing new Subscription instances at it.

It looks like I somehow need to take one Stream and turn it into multiple Subscriptions, but the only API that exists consumes one Stream to give me one Subscription. I must be missing something here, as the downloader and websocket examples exist, and apparently work fine.

How do I get my events into iced?
