We propose two new kinds of facets:

• Vocabulary-search facets - allow searching for facet values in a vocabulary.
• Date facets - filtering on dates (e.g. year ranges, specific dates).

Additionally we describe

• Custom search configuration - allow configuring different search aspects per community/collection for facets/filters, sort options, result display options
• Various improvements to the existing facets such as the ability to collapse them, exclude results and display selected facets

For what concerns more date facets, today I've been asked to implement a facet for filtering by year in our InvenioRDM instance (data-dev.taltech.ee) and we were surprised to find out there was not such an option by default.

Something like what has been done by @mfenner at demo.front-matter.io is probably useful to many research institutions and libraries.
