Glacier/Cold Storage Handling

During the InvenioRDM workshop 2025, we discussed the possibility of moving files to cold storage - Here are the notes

I wasn't part of the initial discussion, so I'm sorry if I ask something that has already been addressed elsewhere.

Was there an agreement regarding when the files should be moved to cold storage? i.e., A celery task checking some condition. And, do you think there was a need to configure this?

I know many people were part of the group at UHH, but I only know @psaiz and @Herrner handles ☺️

At KTH we’re also interested in this feature and get questions from users about cold or archival storage. Having a supported, upstream solution in InvenioRDM would be very valuable for us and likely for other institutions as well.
We’re aware that there is already a working, Open Data–specific implementation at CERN, which shows that the approach is feasible. While this is not an urgent requirement for us, we would be happy to help contribute and collaborate towards a more generic and reusable solution for InvenioRDM in the future.
