Feature parity with paid version

Hi, great job open-sourcing this project that was once open before the money grab. I haven't looked closely at the code yet but just wondering how does it compare to the paywall binary-only version? Looking at the wayback machine it seems he started charging people between Jan 04 and Feb 03.

Hey, thanks for the question!

1. I haven’t looked deeply into the older fully open-source versions or any archived binaries, so I can’t speak much about how those compare.

2. Regarding the paid “Interview Coder” repo . I did take a bit of UI inspiration from it, but all of the backend logic and a good chunk of the frontend were built from scratch by me. I also added some customization options to make things more flexible.

The main goal here was to give the community a solid open-source base to build on -> something that stays free, extensible, and doesn’t lock people behind paywalls for what should be accessible with their own API keys. I noticed a lot of these interiew assitant tools were charging a surprising amount just to use few 4o mini api token like wtf and I felt that could be done better.

This project is meant to stay open and grow with the community. Anyone can build on top of it however they like.

When you say I just need to add my own API keys is it just adding the API key to apiKey variable in ConfigHelper.ts?

No , it will be in config.json located in application's user data directory.
The path is determined in ConfigHelper.ts: path.join(app.getPath('userData'), 'config.json')

The key is stored in a JSON structure along with other configuration options

do does it work with teams i could see that it works only on zoom that too lower versions so if i wanted to work for higher versions can i directly attend this on browser zoom if so will it be invisible ?
