Feature request: can you add the ability to preview Matlab .fig files?

Presently the plugin only previews .mat files. I was hoping you could add the ability to also preview Matlab .fig files. If I knew more about coding I would fork this project or do a pull-request or whatever and do it myself. There are some comments here on how to generate a matlab .fig in Python (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8172931/data-from-a-matlab-fig-file-using-python/36923358#36923358), but I don't know if this is relevant to your code.
