as mentioned previously, it is sometimes necessary to change invidious instances

i'm wondering how feasible it would be to click an icon or button and initiate a ping scan of all known instances and auto-select the one with the best response time?

the other thing that comes to mind is, if an instance takes longer to load than a desired threshold, it would be great if it could automatically switch instances without user interaction

I like the second idea but I don't think the only reason to choose an instance is latency but also if all videos are available. A while ago I had issues with some instances in that regards. Have you not experienced issues with missing videos that are actually available on yt?

What do you think about someting like 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of the instance?

not that i recall, but i'm not saying i never have either

i think anything you could do to auto-fix the case of a non-responding instance would be great - if on top of that you can work around the problem of missing videos, that would be double plus good
