Spacebar scrolls on iPad on Challenger 1P

Using the Challenger 1P, on an iPad 7th generation (IOS 17.4.1), in Safari, pressing the spacebar scrolls to the bottom of the website, instead of typing a space. This is not a problem on the VT100, which also uses the iPad's internal keyboard(instead of a 'keys' button under the machine).
