add javascript from signup page to js file

I added form validation javascript to the signup html page. However now the newsletter javascript at the bottom of the page is no longer working. Can someone please help me solve this issue?

This has been solved. The code to stop the page from changing after the submit button is clicked was the same as the form validation. Changed the js code so the names were different.
