Arc-Darker: selected files become unreadable in an unfocused window

Not sure if it's really a bug, but after upgrading to new XFCE 4.20 now the selected files become very light in color and unreadable when I open another window over the current one.

This is a selected file in the current window:

And this is how it looks when I open any other window or app:

Can I edit some config in your theme myself? Where's this color option? Or, maybe, I can achieve this via ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css ?

I'll see if I'd have time to look at this.

If you are competent with (S)CSS, you can look at thunar specific stylings at common/gtk-3.0/sass/_applications.scss

I can confirm the issue with Arc Lighter. I was able to successfully replicate the issue with the newest XFCE and Thunar. All Arc themes (great work btw) have this problem.

Probably the fix should be like this (for Arc Lighter):

I have this problem too with the plain Arc variant on Thunar when right clicking files

Also if this helps, i tested arc-gtk-theme from official archlinux repos on a vanilla VM and the problem only appears AFTER you install gvfs alongside thunar

@jnsh I've found this exact color for the selected text in the inactive/unfocused window. It's in the file /usr/share/themes/Arc-Darker/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

But I don't know what to do with it. If I change it manually to someting darker nothing happens. Only Gimp main window becomes this new color, lol.

For the Arc-Darker theme, All I had to do was this

sudo nano gtk.css

@import url("resource:///org/gnome/arc-theme/gtk-main-darker.css");

treeview.view:selected { color: #484848; }

Another more elegant fix would be to add the following to your ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css:

.standard-view treeview.view:selected:not(:focus) { color: #5c616c; }

@agorgl Thank you! Looks better now. Though there's a little nuance I'd like to fix: how can I make the "selection background" a bit darker?

An even better solution would be the bellow:

@define-color theme_unfocused_selected_bg_color @bg_color;

.standard-view treeview.view:selected:not(:focus) {
  color: @fg_color;
}

Change @bg_color to #dadde1 or anything else to match your needs.

(also the above fix should work for all arc theme variants)

P.S. Anyway, GTK now doesn't allow to make the same color for the selected element in focused/unfocused modes. The unfocused one is always lighter. But it doesn't bother me now since I can play with other colors. Thank you again.

This was in the theme directory. And yes, it does work after logging out and logging back in. I wonder if there is a command I can run to refresh the theme.

It was @agorgl who mentioned that, not me. Anyway, thank you all, guys, for the hints. Now I can continue using this theme. Believe it or not, but I simply cannot find anything good out there. Been using Arc-theme forever...
