Hello,
I really appreciate this library, but it gets me thinking how hard it would be to propose upstream changes that would allow to get OpenGL context natively from Tk and Tkinter. Is upstream unwilling to accept such change? It would be nice to have officialy supported way to do that without any hacks after all those years.

There's a tcl forum where you can get attention from the developers. Would you like me to tell you how to access it?

There seem to be couple places to ask. Perhaps the mailing list? https://www.tcl.tk/community/

I was just wondering if anyone tried to ask them yet. Also they don't really implement this, so chances are authors of pyopengltk would give better estimates of what would be required to do that, because you already did that :-)

To be honest i am not sure if this is something that needs to be addressed in Tcl/Tk or it simply would be enough to implement it in Tkinter (python bindings). I am bit confused about this. Is Tcl even in the game when using Python?
