Happend to me once, thought it was a connection issue on my side since it worked on consecutive tries. Haven't looked into it yet. Could you try to run it a few times if it's always broken for you or if it's the same behavior/pattern?

@IMAGINARY I ran it multiple times and it fails consistently. I also deleted everything and reinitialized the project, but the issue persists.

I tried a couple of times and it is working for me. Is it possible you can show us what version of create-kaplay are you using? (create-kaplay will do it) and the exactly command you're using?

Besides that, the code that downloads the sprite is the following one:

Is it possible it is any security system in your end? Maybe not allowing Node to create the write stream

create-kaplay version: 3.1.5
I was following the Creating Your First Game guide and tried loading the bean sprite but it didn't work — the image isn't opening at all.
Steps I followed:

npm i create-kaplay
npx create-kaplay myGame

After scaffolding, myGame/public/sprites/bean.png was already corrupted — the file exists but is not a valid image.
