UX: In the trigger or action list, scroll attempts move items too easily

• I have tried restarting my device and that did not help

What happened that you did not expect?

1. Create any mapping with more actions than fit on screen.
2. Try to scroll the action list by performing slide up/down gestures anywhere in the main area.
3. Unless you happen to start the gesture in the gap between two items, the list isn't scrolled, but the item instantaneously moved instead.

What did you expect to happen?

The list should be scrolled unless either

• (a) the touch gesture begins at the move/sort handle of an item, or
• (b) the item is long-pressed,

in both of which cases that item should start moving.

What would the developer need to do to reproduce the bug?

See above.

Additional notes

• If a physical keyboard is connected, Up/Down keys do the job.
• The constraints tab is unaffected, because items are not movable there.

I completely agree with this and your suggestion:

The list should be scrolled unless either
(a) the touch gesture begins at the move/sort handle of an item, or
(b) the item is long-pressed,
in both of which cases that item should start moving.

We do have a drag handle, but it is true that it is essentially ornamental

This also affects the actions redesign #701 so should be fixed there too
