The process was running smoothly previously, but after a period of inactivity and multiple system upgrades, I found it failed to execute today. Upon inspection, there is a fault in the knowledge base query node.

Error message: metadata_model_config is required for this method

This is a known regression introduced in Dify v1.13.0 that affects Knowledge Retrieval nodes when metadata filtering is enabled.

Root cause: PR #31981 introduced overly strict validation that requires metadata_model_config for all metadata filtering modes (automatic and manual), when it should only be required for automatic mode. Since there's no UI field to set this config in manual mode, workflows that worked in v1.11.4 now fail.

Workarounds:

1. Disable metadata filtering - Set metadata_filtering_mode to 'disabled' in your Knowledge Retrieval node
2. Explicitly set the LLM model - In the Metadata Filtering section, select a specific LLM model to populate the config

Fix: PR #32411 addresses this by only requiring metadata_model_config for automatic mode. You may want to check if this fix has been included in a newer release you can upgrade to.
