Question about XMITIP

Are there any steps to be taken for XMITIP if the system upgrades to z/OS 2.5?

There are none - unless you haven't upgraded from smtp to cssmtp in which case you should have a version of XMITIP that is newer than version 10.07 (released in July 2010) and make sure your xmitipcu smtpdest references your cssmtp started task.
