lxd/lxc in lima

Has anyone pulled off using lxd/lxc inside lima?

Currently I'm running docker-in-docker (in lima) w/ ssh and am loving it as a dev! But am having difficulty approaching stuff like AF_XDP? Wondering if lxc would be me a better surface for system level things?

I think it might be a little too much like the movie Inception

LXD (or perhaps Incus) is doing a lot of what Lima is doing, and LXC is doing a lot of what containerd is doing.

Probably the biggest difference is that it does both of them at once: Incus: explanation/containers_and_vms

But here they are two different tools, limactl and nerdctl.

My use case is automated integration/network testing, don't care about perf. mac-mini-m4-base has me stunned when it comes to ripping thru tests.

@afbjorklund is it possible to run Incus inside lima on mac-mini-m4 ? Or can Incus run directly on mac-mini-m4?

I have not tested LXC/LXD in years, as far as I know Canonical is doing all their Ubuntu stuff with Multipass

The Incus daemon only works on Linux.

But there should be a better option, than having to used nested virtualization - even if it might be supported now in VZ?
Running containers in containers is not as bad (for performance, not complexity), but running VM in VM is best avoided.
