Question about E2EE

Hello LiveKit SDK Team,

While using LiveKit, I've encountered a rather difficult issue. My Android app has E2EE enabled by default (I checked the documentation and found that this E2EE switch is a room-level setting). However, I can't see the video track without E2EE enabled in the Android app, which is consistent with the documentation. However, when I use LiveKit-Sdk-JS to implement the web app, I also enable E2EE by default, but I can see the video track without E2EE enabled.

This creates a conflict between the two device apps. I'd like to know how to enable my Android app to see the video track without E2EE enabled.

Sorry, I'm having some trouble understanding your issue.

Do you mean you're unable to view unencrypted tracks video tracks on the Android SDK but able to do so on the JS SDK?

Yes. My Android SDK version is 2.12.1, the js SDK version is 2.8.0, and the server version is an exe file running on the Windows system, with version number 1.8.0.

After creating a new room in js, enable E2EE through await keyProvider.setKey(secureKey.value); await room.value.setE2EEEnabled(true);

On the Android side, use `LiveKit.create(... options = getRoomOptions(), ...);

Both JS and Android apps have E2EE encryption enabled. Then, using the simple examples provided by LiveKit (both for JS and Android), I disable the E2EE option and join the same room.

On the JS App side, I can see all the screens. The two sample apps without E2EE enabled can see each other, but cannot see the JS and Android apps with E2EE enabled, resulting in a distorted screen.

On the Android App side, can only see the JS app with E2EE encryption enabled, and cannot see the two sample apps without E2EE enabled.

I debugged the Android app code and found that I could subscribe to the video stream without E2EE enabled, and I could see that the encryption type of the video stream data was not NONE (or Unknown). However, I'm not sure when the data started to be null. When mounted to the display area, the screen is black and there is no sound.
