Description
Currently it shows recent local html files, but it could show recent websites from history, or bookmarks.
History
Too much content to list, but the extension could show only the "top X most recent" entries
- GNOME Web
~/.local/share/epiphany/ephy-history.db - firefox https://askubuntu.com/questions/412844/can-i-view-firefox-history-with-the-terminal
- chrome/chromium
~/.config/google-chrome/Default/History(sqlite)
Show "top X" websites
the kind of short list we have on the new tab page
- GNOME Web: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/epiphany/-/issues/1169#note_780383
- firefox: ????
- chrome/chromium: ????
the UI design would be easier, but it's more difficult to code
Bookmarks
Too much content to list
- GNOME Web
~/.local/share/epiphany/bookmarks.gvdb - firefox https://askubuntu.com/questions/412844/can-i-view-firefox-history-with-the-terminal (same places.sqlite db)
- chrome/chromium
~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Bookmarks(json)
The big issues is to query complex third-party databases. It's probably too much. So i'll do:
Custom list
- a page in the prefs
- with a configurable list of websites
- maybe sane defaults?
- that will be shown in as many browsers' icon as i can
- and maybe try to keep local recent files
