Heya ! I got this error when i click on "Generate". I use the modgen 0.6.5.
I check the path for D2 folder
I done a fresh install, using the legacy path.
I copy this install in a new folder, change path.

At each step, i got this error. Should i miss something ?

Edit : i read that someone had this trouble two weeks ago but it seems that you resolve the problem. But no fix for me :D

What is your D2 version? My fix was for D2R and it was quite niche.

"using the legacy path." FYI it is for LoD, not D2R.

Bummer. Are you install D2R in Program Files or something? not like D:/Games ? like you have some weird file access problem? Usually that is not an issue but who knows.

try to launch d2modgen with UAC as admin.

What is you host OS? Windows 10 or 11?

Also check Ladiks Casc Viewer, https://www.hiveworkshop.com/threads/ladiks-casc-viewer.331540/ is this program able to open D2R storage? It use same library, CASCLib for blizzard data reading; if you can open with no error maybe it can help diagnose but not sure.

I do fresh download in C:/Program Files , and in D:/D2R, same troubles.
When i open properties of thoses files, ther are in "read only" (black square in the box) and i can"t change it. I tried 2 hours with many different ways (powershell cmd, registry keys....) but it doesnt change this "read only". Maybe it s not the problem for Modgen btw...

I tried everything with admin rights of course.

I m on Windows 10.

And i check Ladiks Casc Viewer but it can t open D2R storage. It says :

(if i translate the french in english for the last sentence it s something like "the specific file cannot be found")

So weird ! Thx for your time, and i can understand if it s not possible to resolve this problem.

yeah, it is same error. Thanks for taking time for tests. At least I can refer to that issue if someone else will have similar problem.

sounds like you have weird account issues. Did you like reinstall Windows lately? Dunno. Maybe battle net launcher/installer is laucnhed via other user? That's why you can't access what battlenet had written to disk.

You can click properties->security->advanced and see what user owns file/folder. Maybe there will be a hint for you.

"I tried everything with admin rights of course." that is sus, as running via UAC must resolve those issues (from my exp)

i live dangerously so :) Always been like that since . And i runned it as adminstrator in context menu. Too bad, i would try this. Will check it another time if i reinstalled windows maybe. Thx for your help !
