Describe the issue

Currently IPython < 9 is pinned:

"ipython<9",

Versions

Some downstreams now get resolved to ipympl 0.0.8 ono conda-forge due to IPython 9 thing.

yikes. I will unpin and test, if nothing breaks I will make a release

release should be running now. I imagine conda-forge will be updated by the bot fairly soon

ok annoyingly it failed to deploy: https://github.com/matplotlib/ipympl/actions/runs/13667255886/job/38210850088

so ill just release manually, but we also need to fix the deploy workflow. Seemingly we need to ensure a higher version of packaging pypa/twine#1216
