As there were already and will be new Surface models, we would highly appreciate an update of your custom files :)

Howdy, this is a good issue, and you're not the only person with it. We've got a workaround here #487 by repointing the catalog inside OEMLinks.xml to one maintained by the OSD project, which is the same tool Maurice uses to generate his catalogs. They tend to update ~weekly, so it should generally be up-to-date. There's also a clever way to point it to a local file in #508 (comment), so if OSD hasn't updated and you need a new driver NOW then you can download OSD, make your own catalog, and point it at that.
