Description of the new feature / enhancement
1. Grouped TOC Loading
Current Approach:
The visibility of the entire comic/EPUB TOC is controlled by the content button.
Hiding the TOC significantly improves reader performance, but it also makes the TOC inaccessible to the user.
Suggested Approach:
Load all TOC entries as usual.
Divide them into groups of 100 entries each. (Depends on number of file entries, and not chapter numbers)
Display each group under a label (e.g., 0+, 100+, 200+).
Clicking a group label toggles the visibility of that group’s entries.
Only one group can be active at a time.
Hidden groups should have no impact on reader performance, similar to fully collapsing the TOC via the content button.
This might eliminate reader performance issues with very large TOCs and also make the TOC accessible at the same time.
Erring on the side of caution, each group should contain a maximum of 100 TOC entries.
Scenario when this would be used?
Eliminate reader performance issues from large TOC's by showing only the active group.
Supporting information
Divide files in a comic/EPUB into fixed ranges:
0+ → Files 1–100
100+ → Files 101–200
Used “0+, 100+, 200+…” format (preferred over “0–100, 101–200” for clarity and UI consistency).
Grouping is based on files, not chapters , because chapter numbering can be inconsistent (e.g., Chapter 0, 1, 1.5, 1.6, 2, 2.5, 2.6, etc.).
The pin/unpin icon for the reader side list has been moved into the side list panel for easier access and a distraction-free experience when unpinned.
Previously, the pin control appeared over the comic/EPUB content because it was positioned beside the side list.
