Would be great to have a hangout plugin test feature

Something where people can go to a page on our site, and click a generic "test" button or something, and ensure that their machine works correctly.

With its vague branding Google has fostered considerable confusion as to whether one has the hangout plugin, has a Google+ acct, etc.

Might be unrelated, but one of the participants name was not visible during the event. Could it be due to the fact that he was not having a G+ profile or his Google account and G+ were not linked?

The challenge with testing this is getting google accounts in each of the different states:

• has no G+ account
• has a G+ account, but data is not filled out, or privacy settings are strict, or whatever
• has a G+ account, but no hangout plugins

It's hard (impossible?) to remove G+ features once they've been added, so whatever account we use for testing needs to not ever be fully set up with G+.
