Render image with molstar_notebook?

Is there a simple way to render a png/jpg image using the output from molstar_notebook?

I have tried passing the html output from molstar_notebook to some converter tools but wasn't successful...

With the current setup I don't think so. The plugin is rendered in an iframe and I am not sure how we would communicate the data back to python.

I am imagine calling a function on the plugin instance that captures the screenshot and creates a download link with it, but that would require user interaction.

However, if you are running this locally, you should be able to pass the MVS file to the mvs-render app which comes with the molstar NPM package.

@midlik wrote this and has been using this. Maybe he has more ideas too.

Another solution could be that we write one more app similar to mvs-stories and will have ui="screenshot" support in the Molstar Notebook. This would return a single HTML img element in the result... but even with that, the page would have to run some JS first... so not sure how this would work in practice.

I think saving the MVS file and passing it to mvs-render running in node is your best bet.
