I apologise for this very late reply.

I am afraid that I have no suggestions, as I have access to neither the new remote desktop application nor Windows and cannot test. I will leave this issue open and perhaps somebody will attempt to contribute a solution.

Have you ever looked at the source to pynput? pynput uses ctypes to access the Windows API. Games use a hardware-level direct input for keyboard and mouse events. The point of it is to intercept the hardware input from the keyboard and mouse before Windows translates the raw scancodes from the keyboard and the raw deltas into a coordinate system for the mouse. Anyway, my point is that the issue may not directly be pynput itself. Your issue may be an OS-level limitation in the Windows API.
