With the renewed interest in Forgejo I decided to finally pull the plug on moving out of Gitea, and this is how it went.

Just want to say thank you thank you thank you for vibe coding this quick go script. You made migrating a few dozen gitea repos --> forgejo so much easier for me!!

The only thing I had to do manually was reassign the organizations, because even though i changed the orgnaization names in the config.yaml (which made them migrate) - they didn't migrate to the correct organization in forgejo. Probably a code fix there - but I couldn't be bothered to dig into it.

I didn't have any organizations on my instance so it makes sense a bug went unnoticed, I'll add a note to the post with your comment since I don't wanna touch the script now that I can't test it.

I too waited too long to migrate so your tool was just the thing I needed (and a snowy cold Saturday here so I would just sit down and do it).

One thing that wasn't in my app.ini files (for either gitea nor forgejo) was the migrations block, I had to add this to my app.ini to get it to actually perform the migrations:

[migrations]
SKIP_TLS_VERIFY = true
ALLOW_LOCALNETWORKS = true
ALLOWED_DOMAINS = *

I seem to remember looking at this setting but my configuration doesn't have it set 🤷🏼

I think what happened in my case is that I only had a couple private repos that needed to be imported from Gitea directly and I must've run into this error and just pushed it up manually.
