500 error on plain site loading webp from public folder, version 4 of Nuxt folders

Our steps

• install Nuxt via nuxi@latest (3.15)
• Add version 4 compatability and change folder structure (app folder for app stuff, etc)
• install Nuxt Image latest (1.8.1)
• Add a .webp image to the /public/images
• Use <NuxtImg... per the documentation

This produces a 500 error when trying to load the file

GET http://localhost:3000/_ipx/_/images/logo.webp 500 (Internal Server Error)

Any idea why?

Why do I need to provide a reproduction?

I uninstalled Nuxt UI and it works, so this is an issue related to something that Nuxt UI incorporates conflicting with the image. Closing.
